My interest in the family tree began in the 60's as a child, gathering information from elderly relatives, especially my father's cousin Alan Solly (Beckenham, Kent) & Bill Solly (Bristol). From that a tree starting with Peter Soly of Ash, died 1494 (KT) was built up and given to Elizabeth Hughes (Solly surname co-ordinator) a few years ago, and from which I understand more has been added. I have also taken my German mother's tree to 1700 (Oberheide).
Recently I have been looking at the Essex branch of the family who left East Kent and then Faversham to continue their wetlands farming in Mundon and Tollesbury near Maldon well over 150 years ago. From there most direct relatives(grandparents' generation) moved to East London (West Ham) about 100 years ago.
