Sewells in Hertfordshire and Ireland

My grandfather William Charles Sewell was born in Waltham Cross, Edmonton,Cheshunt, Hertfordshire in 1893.
His father, Edward Sewell was born in the same place in 1868.
I found Edward's family in the 1881 census and it showed his father was
also Edward Sewell born and that he was born abt 1833 in Waterford Ireland.

I would like to find out more about the Sewells, so any information would be welcome

No I didn't, that's interesting.
My only source is the Ancestry.com 1881 census record which gives the place of birth as Waterford, Ireland so there is a possibility that it is not accurate.

I have been able to find the 1871 census record for Edward Sewell
and the place of birth is written as Herts Waterford... so the Ireland
reference in the 1881 census was probably a red herring.

I have just listed on ebay an old leather bound bible that may have well belonged to your family ..inside is a rather nice embossed In Memoriam notice for an Edward Sewell - died Dec 4th 1886 aged 53 years - Cheshunt. Do let me know if you are interested so I can pass on the listing details.
